BRIEF

This Catfish Tv Show package focuses on rebranding the show through a series of deliverables, including a title design, promo, lower thirds, credit squeeze, bump in/out and endpage. I focused on rebranding the MTV show, 'Catfish.' 
 
Catfish TV Show is about uniting online lovers/friends that have never met in person and could possibly be hiding behind fake profiles. 

SOLUTION

Using the assets from the show (i.e glitch, text highlighting, social media, online messages, imagery, location) as motion design elements to help underline the important pieces of the show.

A movie/show's title introduction

For my rebranded title design, I created a suspenseful sequence that is heavily inspired by the nature of the show, including various elements seen throughout the show. Considering the current show package, I didn't want to push the colors too far off brand. So, I incorporated blue, green and yellow which are colors pulled from the show's logo. Although the show is investigative and suspenseful, there are romantic and comical moments throughout nearly each episode. Romance is emphasized through the type, which were inspired by the online conversations that aired on the show.

The green/yellow used throughout this rebranded show package are pulled directly from this logo. To brighten the overall feel, I added a lighter blue

The Strategy

Words are a very intricate part of the show and I wanted to use that to my advantage when developing a catch phrase for the show's promo. I took 3 words that sum up the nature of the show in it's entirety -- truth, lies, fishy.

The Concept

My idea behind this was to have Nev and Kamie look like they're coming out of the phone because the goal of the show is to have the suspects essentially 'come out of their phones' to finally meet face to face.

BUMP IN/OUT

What takes viewers to and from commercial break

The Concep

Imagery is a major factor on the show -- showing images of suspects and locations. This bump/in/out swiftly takes you through a series of blurred photos, revealing the Catfish logo -- as if you're floating through a web of lies.

The Strategy

Communication is the biggest factor of the show so my idea was to emphasize communication by creating a lower third in the form of a text. The cursor glides across the name as the color changes and glitches its way off-screen.

To make it a little more unique, I added a glitch sound effect to the lower third.

CREDIT SQUEEZE

When the credits are squeezed to the side to reveal what show is playing next.

The Strategy

When watching the show, you realize that there's never really a straight path towards finding the truth. I've essentially used all other elements that I've pulled from the content of the show to incorporate throughout the show's package. However, I took a more abstract approach with this by creating diagonal shapes represent the complexity of unpacking the truth.
